Relational Solutions Background

Relational Solutions, demand signal repository experts, was founded in 1996 by Janet Dorenkott and Rob York. Our consultants are experts in delivering enterprise demand signal repositories to the consumer goods industry. Our background is in data warehousing and business intelligence which makes us uniquely qualified to deal with data cleansing and integration issues associated with point of sale (POS) data.

We have built some of the largest scale data warehouses and business intelligence solutions in the country. We were the first company in the country to use and evaluate second generation ETL (extraction/transformation/load) tools including Informatica & DataStage. We established a reputation as experts in the area of data integration and cleansing and co-authored the first evaluation of ETL tools in the mid 90′s.

More on Relational Solutions. The focus on CPG began when we discovered that every consumer goods company we went into had the same issue… too much data. Too much data coming from too many sources, with varying data elements and inconsistent formats. This data was coming from retailers, syndicated data providers, brokers, EDI files, even internal shipments and orders. We found ourselves redeveloping cleansing and validation processes with every CPG project. In 1998 we started development of POSmart. It started as a data model and ETL cleansing and validation routines. Today POSmart is now a complete, yet open, end to end solution. It includes the data model, cleansing and validation processes, ETL integration engine, an EDI translator, editor and BlueSky Reporting Suite. It also has options that include our Control Center, Report Matrix, Promotion Analysis and Event Alignment.

Our POSmart architecture follows data warehouse best practices. This allows our application to grow and change with your organization’s needs. The application architecture is open and supports virtually any database and business intelligence too. We offer our BlueSky Analytics for consumer goods companies, but we also leverage existing tools such as Cognos, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Access and Excel! POSmart’s open architecture is flexible and is designed to grow with your business. It’s flexibility supports many departments over the long term. Our methodology is well proven and our expertise in this space cannot be surpassed.
